Roulette: The Wheel and Deal
by Wilson of Predictem.com
The game of Roulette is another game of chance that has been around since the early 17th century according to gaming historians. Roulette or little wheel in French, was created by a scientist and mathematician named Blaise Pascal. The game became very popular during the 1800s both in Europe and America. It is rumored that roulette was introduced in the United States by Frenchmen who first brought it to New Orleans during the 19th century. Roulette, craps, and baccarat are considered the three best casino games to play because of their low casino advantage bets.
Roulette has been glamorized throughout the years as a game of chance, and all you have to do to win is guess where that tiny little white ball is going to land. The game layout has a total of 36 numbers which are aligned in three rows. Half of the numbers are printed in the color red while the other half is printed in the color black. The object of the game is to simply bet on which number will show on each spin of the ball. The dealer spins the wheel of numbers one way while he or she then sets the ball in motion in the opposite direction the wheel is spinning. Eventually the ball and the wheel begin to slow to a stop and the ball ultimately lands on a corresponding number. If you bet on that number you win.

The casinos always have the advantage so they figured they would improve their odds even more by adding a zero to the already original numbers of 1 through 36. Now with the zero in place they could up their odds to make even more money in favor of the house. With the zero on the board, the odds went from 1 out of 36 to 1 out of 37. To make matters even more advantageous for the casinos they decided to add a double zero to the layout. Most American casinos now have a zero and a double zero on their roulette layout.
In total, the average American roulette wheel holds 38 spots. The 1-36 numbers are alternately colored red and black and the other two (zero and double zero) are colored green. As a player your goal is to predict what number will hit. Players may bet on one single number, a combination of numbers, a row of numbers, red or black numbers, or whether or not the number will be odd or even.
Ive seen people stop by a roulette table on their way to their room and put a five dollar chip on a number and win. Ive watched people win hundreds of dollars simply by betting red or black and odd or even. There are several variations of bets that can be made on a roulette table. The layout is really quite simple as far as reading the different betting areas. Some people try to cover as many numbers as they can while others are content to single out a couple of numbers and letem ride.
Roulette is also one of the most popular casino games and its actually easy to learn. Another great bonus about roulette is that its more available than the other two recommended table games (craps and baccarat). If you have frequented any casinos you might recall that there are usually plenty of roulette tables. In my opinion, roulette is a game containing much less action than craps but much more activity than baccarat. If youre looking for a quality game with a balance of betting activity and touch of drama then roulette might just be the game for you. My advice to any potential player is to learn the game by reading, observing, and finally playing! Luck to ya.
