When: May 15th – 18th
Watch: ESPN, CBS, ESPN+, Paramount+
The 2025 PGA Championship is set to electrify the golfing world as it returns to the prestigious Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. This marks a significant moment, as Quail Hollow, a course renowned for its challenging layout and rich history, once again hosts one of golf’s four major championships.
Established in 1959, Quail Hollow has become a fixture in professional golf, regularly hosting the Wells Fargo Championship and, notably, the 2017 PGA Championship, where Justin Thomas claimed victory. The course, originally designed by George Cobb and later refined by Tom Fazio, is celebrated for its demanding “Green Mile” – the final three holes that have tested the mettle of even the world’s best.
The 2025 PGA Championship promises a compelling narrative, featuring a field of the world’s top golfers vying for the coveted Wanamaker Trophy. Players like Rory McIlroy, who has a strong history at Quail Hollow, and defending PGA Champion Xander Schauffele will be among the favorites.
The tournament will not only showcase exceptional golf but also highlight the beauty and challenge of Quail Hollow, a course that demands precision, power, and mental fortitude. As the world’s attention turns to Charlotte, anticipation builds for what is sure to be a memorable chapter in PGA Championship history.

Who to Bet on this Weekend?
2 Chances – Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler
Taking the two heaviest favorites is definitely not a “sharp” play, but when you look at the body of work between these two, it’s hard not to imagine that one of them walks away victorious come Sunday afternoon. In recent years, since the PGA championship moved to May, the winner has not only netted positive true strokes gained based on their last 3 months of work, but they have also netted positive strokes gained off the tee. Rory and Scottie easily check these boxes. With the pouring rain that hit Quail Hollow on Monday, the course is poised to play very soft, and every extra yard off the tee will be a huge advantage. I will also be taking Rory and Scottie individually to win the event at +400 and +500, respectively. Betting them this way provides a little extra juice.
Patrick Cantlay – Top 5 Finish (+650)
Cantlay has been extremely solid and reliable during the 2025 PGA season so far. While he is without a key victory, he has all the tools to succeed at Quail Hollow this weekend. He checks the boxes in terms of his strokes gained ratings and is competent off the tee and in his short game, which is a major factor in why I think he can finish in the top 5. From January to May, including the Truist Championship last weekend, Cantlay has three top 5 finishes. He also adds another three top 15 finishes on the year, once again highlighting the success he has had. While I don’t know if he can win the event, I like his chances to be atop the leaderboard once again. Sometimes, you just have to roll with the hottest hand.
Cameron Smith – Top 20 Finish (+275)
Taking a LIV golfer in a PGA event is always a risky move since the level of competition is tough to compare, but I like Cameron Smith to sneak his way into the top 20. He has battled some injuries and some tough stretches of play in 2025, but his long and short iron play will be some of the most elite in the field. Soft greens should allow him to stick the ball close to the pin and make easy putts throughout the tournament. If he can limit his mistakes, Smith can post some low scores and very well could outperform my expectations. He is an interesting play to finish top 10 as well as the line jumps up to +650.
